The Gloucester City Shamrock Festival highlights a weekend packed with entertainment, crafts and more.

Black 47 and other Irish bands will perform at Gloucester City's Celtic-themed event Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.

The festival, held on King Street in the marina district, also will feature a beer garden, food, crafts and children's activities.

The Waterford Fire Company will host an Octoberfest event Saturday, 3 to 9 p.m., with beer, wine, entertainment and more.

And Pitman will be the place for craft enthusiasts Saturday, when more 200 exhibitors will set up downtown from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you're planning a shore trip this weekend, you can stop by the Food and Wine Festival at the Cape May Winery, which features gourmet lunches, and wine and beer tastings, and continues through Sept.

Record numbers expected

GUANGZHOU: A record number of exhibitors will attend the city's fourth trade fair for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), its organizer said.

The event will involve 3,296 Chinese exhibitors and 1,800 from 27 countries and regions - a record number since it began in 2004, Lin Ying, secretary-general of the fair's organizing committee, said yesterday.

The fourth China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair will be held from Saturday to Tuesday, jointly sponsored by the Chinese and Japanese governments. The China-Japan Small and Medium Enterprises Fair will be held at the same time.

"The event is expected to boost the development of China's SMEs and to set up a platform for them to forge new cooperative ties with their international counterparts," Lin said.
